theScore Fantasy Sports Launched on Facebook Instant Games

Players can compete in daily contests for the NFL, NBA, NHL and EPL

Sports media company theScore launched theScore Fantasy Sports on Instant Games, Facebook’s HTML5 cross-platform gaming service that allows users to play games with their friends on Messenger and News Feed.

At launch, the fantasy sports game allows users to compete in daily contests for the National Football League, the National Basketball Association, the National Hockey League and the English Premier League, with more leagues coming in the future.

For each contest, users are asked to draft a team of five athletes without going over a set budget. From there, they can challenge their friends to see who can earn the highest score.

In a press release, John Levy, CEO and founder of theScore, said, “We’ve always believed that the best fantasy sports experience is one that’s highly social, with a focus on playing for fun with your friends. This is why we think theScore Fantasy Sports and Messenger are truly made for each other. It’s extremely exciting to pioneer fantasy sports on Messenger, delivering a game that’s fun, free, easy-to-play and accessible to sports fans everywhere on a platform with such incredible reach and engagement.”

Instant Games began rolling out to Messenger users worldwide in May 2017. There are currently more than 70 games available for the platform. Facebook began testing ads and in-application purchases on Instant Games in October 2017.
